Message from Felix Francis

Dear Friends and Readers

I would like to thank the hundreds and hundreds of people who have posted messages of condolence on this website following the death of my father, Dick Francis.  I have read through all of the messages in the guestbook and your sympathetic words have meant a huge amount to me, some of them reducing me to tears when I realize that so many people loved him as much as I did.

All his books, short-stories and biographies have given readers around the world an enormous amount of pleasure and many of your comments have referred to how much his books meant to you.

It has been a huge privilege to work with my father over the past twenty-four years, particularly recently on the last four novels. His legacy will live on beyond him with the publication of Crossfire, the book we were working on before his death in February, which will be published in August in the United States, and in September in the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.

In addition to the website messages, my brother, Merrick, and I have received many hundreds of letters and cards in the regular mail. Sadly, we are unable to write individual ‘thank you’ notes for the website messages in addition, as I wouldn’t get round to writing anything else, and there is a new book to get started for next year. However, please be assured that your generosity and thoughtfulness have touched us both deeply.

I do miss him so much, but I rejoice in having been the son of such an extraordinary man, and I share in the joy that he brought to so many over such a long life.

With very best wishes,

Felix Francis
